Chestnuts

So many chestnuts (castaƱas) on the road. I managed to fill my backpack’s side pockets with them and roasted them in the oven at the apartment we stayed in Santiago. These nuts will and did explode all over the oven, covering the inside of the oven with their nutty powder. Despite losing a few to the violent explosions, we still managed to get a dozen or so, peeled them and added them to our fruit salad. Soft and sweet. They tasted even better because they’re free vs the 4.50euro per kg we saw in the market.

  1. Dear Selina and Gabriel, we have read again the whole Camino posts in your Slowboat pages. it has been very interesting, follow the places, roads, questions, frustrations, annoying situations and facts. One by one again walking the days with you both and Pilar. we wonder now how you feel about it after a few days have gone by, what did you learn, what would you change if doing it again… if so… or not. What did you feel, think and experience… now Pilar is back home, the Camino is done but we would like to know more of your feelings about it. Would you recommend it… would you do it again as the woman that comes back to it each year… _Perhaps some day, here in Boyaca we can share it. Thank you for your posts. Hugs for both, hope to continue enjoying your leap year…. R / R
